Thanks in advance for any opinions and advice you can provide to me! Oh yeah, I also generally use Feather or Kai blades if that helps.Ĭlick to expand.I have a Ti95DC OC/SB and am an every other day 2 pass shaver. 68 will be aggressive enough while maintaining smoothness. 95 blade gap, but I'm open to consider it if ppl think it could make sense in my use case.

I'd prefer having the same type of comb on both sides of the razor for both aesthetic reasons and to keep it simple, but I'm certainly open to the dual comb if it works better in practice. But I wonder if that really matters in practice or is more theoretical. The dual comb logically makes sense to me in that I would use the OC side for my WTG pass and then the SB for the XTG pass. Blackland Blackbird - I know this isn't a Timeless, but just seemed to have very good reviews as well and piqued my interest. So these are the options I'm considering: Also, I don't really want a super heavy/bulky razor (I'm comfortable with the weight of my Feather AS-D2), which is why I'm considering the titanium although from what I can tell, the steel Timeless isn't overly heavy. However, I am a little afraid of an OC for both the WTG and XTG passes of my shave (but this may be an entirely unfounded fear). I feel like an open comb razor may make a lot of sense for me after reading the Timeless FAQs where he recommends an open comb for multiple days of growth. In fact, it did lead me down a rabbit hole of reading about SE (artist style) razors with thicker blades, but I still want to give another DE a shot before trying SE. I've read about the "blade chatter" that can happen with DE blades against thick growth and perhaps that is what I'm facing. I think it may be due to having to put a fair bit of pressure to chop down the thick multi-day growth. Also I still get some weepers or small nicks, typically in the neck area. My main issues are that the razor often clogs midshave to the point where I have to unscrew the handle a bit to loosen the blade and rinse. I've used a Feather AS-D2 for the last several years and typically do 2 passes (1 WTG and 1 XTG) and then a little touchup. I'm looking to get a new razor and I think Timeless is the brand I'm going to go with but I"m struggling to choose a specific model and could use your expertise!įor a little background: I generally shave once or at most twice a week and have thick, relatively fast growing facial hair.
